Industry Icon Georgi Bohrod Gordon Retires

As of January 1, 2025, Georgi Bohrod Gordon officially retired from a lengthy and successful career in strategic communications. We met Georgi in Southern California in 1992. She was an icon then, and she remains one now.

She announced her retirement formally in a LinkedIn post. We’ve excerpted a portion here:

Georgi wrote, “My timeshare communications career began at #Winners Circle Resorts International in Del Mar, CA, where industry legend Jim Watkins took me under his wing, generously guiding me through the complexity of timesharing and its multi layered business model. Over the years the path headed to Orange County where America’s Resort Group created a model for U.S. residents to become members of a luxury Mexican timeshare without leaving the U.S.

“Eventually, the path led to #ResortCom (then in San Diego, now in Las Vegas) where we focused on rebranding, business to business marketing and member communications. As time went on, I left the corporate environment to open my own company, with ResortCom becoming my first client.

“Building GBG & Associates, one press release at a time, filled me with personal and professional satisfaction. As the PR/communications climate morphed to include social media, digital advertising and email marketing GBG & Associates broadened our scope of work to create marketing plans based on a combination of clear messaging and specific marketing vehicles.

“In reflection I am particularly proud of the role I played in founding WIN, Women in the Industry— which today is ARDA WIN, dedicated to supporting women and raising funds for important causes.

“GBG has worked in other industries along the way. Legal Services, Retail Operations and Cannabis have all proven to be exciting and worthwhile, but the hospitality sector was clearly my niche.

“Times have changed and so have I. This next chapter of my life is unscripted as of yet. I’m looking forward to living every moment as it unfolds.

“I’m hesitant to list all those folks who had my back over the years, my clients, my colleagues, friends and family because I could be leaving out all-important players in our more than four decades together. I’ve always said the B2B marketing was really just P2P (people to people) and that’s been the spark that kept me going. The people. People like these wonderful human beings* (and many more).”

We appreciated her support of Resort Trades and this publication will feel her absence, as will I. I’m sure I’m not alone in this regard. But we’re also looking forward to hearing about her next endeavors and wish her luck, joy, and good health!

*Her post included a list of many individuals who contributed to the growth and stability of the timeshare resort industry.
