Vacation Ownership Embraced By Interval International Members

Interval International, a leading global provider of vacation services, today revealed highlights of its bi-annual member study. Soon to be available, the Interval International 2018 Membership Profile provides important data about members worldwide, including travel habits, timeshare ownership and exchange preferences, use of technology and social media, and top vacation experiences, in addition to key demographic information.

“For nearly 20 years, Interval’s membership profile has been an important tool in developing new products, services, and technology to better serve our members and our developer clients,” said Jeanette Marbert, president and CEO of Interval International. “These latest insights continue to reinforce the value of shared ownership and provide prospective entrants with key learnings to reach and market to potential buyers.”

The study demonstrates that a significant majority of Interval members plan on exchanging their timeshare in the next 12 months; price, location and quality of resort/unit are generally the leading factors influencing purchase; and beach and urban locations are among the most appealing vacation experiences for future travel. Below, are some additional highlights from the research.

− More than 95 percent of members in the U.S. state the ability to
exchange as an important aspect of their ownership.

− In Asia Pacific, when asked what types of vacations were appealing for future travel, nearly three in four members indicate beachfront vacations and 54 percent cite city experiences.

− In Brazil, more than 70 percent are likely to recommend vacation ownership.

− Forty-five percent of members in the EU own more than a week of vacation time.

− More than four out of five members in Mexico express satisfaction with Interval’s services and benefits.

− In Colombia, where more than 50 percent of owners pinpoint the U.S. as a preferred destination, more than 82 percent have travelled internationally during the past 12 months.

A series of region-specific infographics based on the Interval International 2018 Membership Profile will be available in the coming months. They will include an expanded analysis of the results and global travel trends as provided by hospitality advisors HVS.
