School Supplies Mean Success Global Connections’ Committee of Awesomeness Throws “Back-to-School” Supplies Party

OVERLAND PARK, KS – September 11, 2018 –Travel industry leader Global Connections, Inc. (GCI), the highly-respected resort developer, travel club fulfillment and service provider of Global Discovery Vacations, has its very own employee driven volunteer organization named  the Committee of Awesomeness (C.O.A). The company supports ongoing philanthropic and social responsibility endeavors to assist local communities through charities and causes championed by its employees.  The C.O.A organizes monthly events with various worthwhile groups in mind, sharing both physical and financial support.

The COA has been instrumental in collecting thousands of dollars over the years for the greater Kansas City area as well as for local communities where GCI has a presence. Over the years, the C.O.A. has supported Red Nose Day, the Harvesters Food Network, and Clean the World, among numerous other monthly charitable causes.

Most recently, the C.O.A. community effort was an Ice Cream Social to raise funds and school supplies as a back-to-school event.

Tiffany Oldham, of the C.O.A., said, “A school supply drive is an easy way to have a profound impact on teachers and their students’ learning experiences.  Lucky for us, we knew a couple of local teachers in need of supplies. So, our Committee of Awesomeness rolled up their sleeves to scoop some ice cream!”

The great event not only raised money to buy school supplies but also collected a plethora of supplies ranging from notepads to markers from team members and leaders.

“We are pleased to stand by these important causes whose work supports families and children,” said Tom Lyons, President and CEO of Global Connections and a devoted community philanthropist.  “Our Global Team is always ready to participate in fundraisers and charitable events to make the lives of others better.”
