The Honorable Shahine Robinson MP, along with distinguished guests, families of award recipients, and Moon Palace Resort Executives, gathered at the Gondola Restaurant at Moon Palace Jamaica, Ocho Rios, to honor the Palace Foundation at its third annual Scholarship Awards Ceremony.
“It is heartwarming to know that Moon Palace, as a part of corporate Jamaica continues to, in a quiet way, make its contribution to the development of its people,” said the Honorable Shahine Robinson MP. “As a nation we thank Moon Palace! The changing global environment demands that we continue to educate our people if we are to remain relevant, and Moon Palace is making a significant contribution to these efforts.”
“Moon Palace is a fairly new company in Jamaica, but not new to Mexico where corporate social responsibility has always been an integral part of the brand. One of our core values is the responsibility of developing and training our people. As a Jamaican, I understand the importance of education in Jamaica and the purpose of our scholarship program on the island is to develop our community and by extension our people,” said Clifton Reader, Managing Director of Moon Palace Jamaica. Reader went on to congratulate the recipients and urge them to think about how they will use this scholarship program to develop themselves, and in turn, make a positive contribution to Jamaica.
The education program helps expand the lives of financially challenged youth in Jamaica by facilitating scholarships and providing them with a comprehensive education based on solid values and strong principles. Already, the Palace Foundation has donated more than $3M dollars in cash contributions towards its 2018 scholarship recipients. Schools impacted include: University of the Commonwealth Caribbean, University of Technology, University of the West Indies, International University of the Caribbean, Moneague, Northern Caribbean University, School of Paramedic Studies, Caribbean Maritime University, and Sigma School of Nursing.
