Oneida Indian Nation and Oneida County to Expand “New Year, New Career” Recruitment Campaign to New York City & Atlantic City

In three weeks since launching, the campaign has already produced more than 70 new hires for New Yorkers and Non-New Yorkers

After Disney announced mass layoffs for hospitality workers at its Orlando resorts, the Oneida Indian Nation partnered with Oneida County, New York to launch the “New Year, New Career” campaign – a recruitment initiative to attract recently laid-off hospitality and gaming professionals to fill more than 250 positions at its award-winning resort properties in Upstate New York.

Using a combination of paid advertising, earned media campaigns, and on-the-ground hiring pushes, the campaign has already resulted in more than 70 accepted offers, with hundreds of interviews conducted so far, which includes more than 40 Central New Yorkers and 30 accepted offers from individuals who will be relocating from Orlando.

“The hospitality and gaming industries around the country have been decimated this year by the pandemic, but we were extremely encouraged by the success of our program and the amount of interest we have received upon launching in Orlando,” said Oneida Indian Nation Representative and Oneida Nation Enterprises CEO Ray Halbritter. “This is a great opportunity for the region and for local residents. We will continue to build off of our momentum and plan to play a key part in our region’s recovery.”

“Creating jobs and putting people back to work is exactly what we need to focus on for recovery going into the new year,” said Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente Jr. “The ‘New Year, New Career’ has been extremely effective in this regard so far. We are equally excited to help get local residents back to work, as well as welcome our new neighbors joining us from across the country.”

In addition to adding New York City and Atlantic City to its list of new targets, Oneida Nation Enterprises will also be hosting a Virtual New Year, New Career Recruitment Event on Facebook Live early next month. Job seekers will learn about the diverse range of hospitality and gaming job opportunities and hear directly from team leaders who are currently hiring in areas such as hotels, gaming, food and beverage, and more. Additional information will be shared shortly on the Turning Stone Facebook page.

The open positions at ONE include a variety of full-time jobs, which are a combination of salaried and hourly positions, including dealers, culinary, bartenders, restaurant and cocktail servers, hotel staff, housekeeping, and other gaming positions.

The “New Year, New Career” campaign promotes generous compensation and benefits, relocation assistance, as well as opportunities for world-class training with James Beard award-winning chefs and gaming veterans.

Oneida County, through its department of workforce development, will work with ONE to assist locally based job candidates, and those looking to relocate to Oneida County, find the resources necessary to become employed, including daycare needs and local employment opportunities for traveling family members.
