Marissa, January’s SMOV Survivor
Getting diagnosed with breast cancer at 32 wasn’t on my Bingo card. It has been both one of the worst and hardest things I’ve ever experienced and one of the biggest invitations and opportunities for connection and growth. You can’t go through something like this and not emerge anew–so now, in this brand new skin, I sit with the confusing question mark that is life after.
Having the chance to be in a new environment in community with other women who simply get it and to finally be able to exhale and ENJOY life, instead of bracing for it, feels like the biggest gift after the marathon of our lives. It almost feels scary to receive goodness and to trust that it’s safe to do so after so much grief and fear.
My belief is that Send Me On Vacation provides the invaluable reminder that life–though full of incredible hardship–is ultimately magical and that when we bravely ask for what we want, say yes to adventure, and remain open to it all, there is so much joy and love we get to experience.
I can’t think of a better way to kick off this next chapter of my life than strolling through a magical city, drinking in a stunning landscape, and healing alongside soul sisters. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to do just that.
