Massanutten Resort Set to Open This Weekend for 2018/19 Ski Season

The 2018/19 Ski & Snowboard Season Begins Saturday at Premier Virginia Resort with Exclusive, ‘First Tracks Session’ on Friday for Season Passholders

McGaheysville, Va. – December 3, 2018 – Massanutten Resort prepares to open their trails to winter sports enthusiasts this Saturday, December 8, with an exclusive soft opening on Friday, December 7, for 2018/19 season passholders.

“Our snowmakers have been hard at work covering the Ski Slopes and Snow Tubing Hill in snow,” said Kenny Hess, director of sports and recreation at Massanutten Resort. “We will have Southern Comfort and Diamond Jim ready to go on Friday for passholders and plan to add Lower Showtime to mid-station on Saturday for the official opening day. We will continue to make snow and open additional trails as temperatures allow.”

The slopes will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, with après ski available at Base Camp Umbrella Bar. Early season rates are available now through December 14 and range between $30 – $46 for slope-use tickets without rentals. Junior, senior, and military discounts are available.

Snow tubing will be available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, and sessions can be booked online and in-person on a first-come, first served basis. The Rink at Massanutten will also be open for ice skating sessions during the hours of 4:45 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Friday, December 7, and 11:30 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 8. Full hours of operation for tubing and ice skating can be found online at https://www.massresort.com/play/snow-sports/.

Bonus ‘First Tracks’ Session

The Season Passholder soft opening event will be held Friday, December 7, from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. and adds yet another benefit to purchasing a season pass at Massanutten Resort. Other 2018/19 season pass benefits include 10 percent off lodging and dining during ski season. The Snowsports School and rental shop will be closed on Friday, December 7.

Hess attributes an early season opening to the hard work of their snowmaking team.

“Our snowmakers have been working hard to crank out as much snow as possible the past few weeks and have done a phenomenal job getting us prepared for an epic 2018/19 season,” said Hess. “We’re very excited to add yet another benefit to our season passholders this year, giving them first dibs on the first tracks of the season.”

2018/19 Season Pass Bonus Benefits:

  • Exclusive invitation to soft opening on Friday, December 7
  • 10 percent off lodging at Massanutten Resort (subject to availability)
