Marriott Vacations Worldwide CEO Steve Weisz Named as a Top Business Leader by Florida Trend

Marriott Vacations Worldwide (MVW) is proud to announce CEO Steve Weisz has been recognized by Florida Trend in its annual “Florida 500” list of the 500 most influential executives in different economic sectors throughout the state.

With more than 50 years of dedicated service in the hospitality and travel industry, Weisz’s leadership story is one of excellence, integrity, innovation and caring. He has served in senior leadership roles for the last 26 years, first as President of Marriott Vacation Club International, a division of Marriott International, and the last 11 years serving in the role of Chief Executive Officer of Marriott Vacations Worldwide.

While at Marriott International, Weisz had many accomplishments, including starting a customer  loyalty rogram now known as Marriott Bonvoy, and helping to open more than 30 hotels. Under Weisz’s leadership, Marriott Vacations Worldwide has experienced significant growth with the expansion of Marriott Vacation Club into Asia, the acquisition of ILG and Welk Hospitality Group, and the introduction of a points-based vacation ownership product in response to customers’ desires for greater flexibility and variety in vacationing.

Additionally, his beliefs in taking care of associates and giving back to the community have been at the heart of the company’s success. This was reflected most recently when Marriott Vacations Worldwide ranked fourth on Newsweek’s Top 100 Most Loved Workplaces® list, and No. 1 in the hospitality sector.

Throughout his time at Marriott Vacations Worldwide, Weisz has also led the company’s commitment to the community. Most recently, under his leadership, the company forged a partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to help children battling life-threatening illnesses and their families enjoy a beautiful vacation at select Vacation Club properties.

“To be recognized alongside so many exceptional leaders across Florida is an honor,” Weisz said. “I am so grateful to have spent my career in an industry I genuinely love, giving people an opportunity to make lifelong memories at our incredible properties. None of this would have been possible without our associates who create the unforgettable vacation experiences that MVW has become known for and have allowed us to grow.”

Earlier this year, Weisz announced he will be retiring as CEO effective December 31, 2022. Current MVW President John E. Geller, Jr. will succeed Weisz and assume the role of President and CEO effective January 1, 2023.
