Lifestyle Holidays Vacation Club Monthly Financial Support Stops Closing of Casa Nazareth Home For Handicapped Children

In 2002, Mercedes Bejarán of the cloistered nuns of the Carmelite Order in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, received support from the bishop to open a home to care for the needs of handicapped children in the area.  Casa Nazareth was known throughout the region for its love and specialized care for children with a variety of conditions ranging from autism and Down’s Syndrome to Cerebral Palsy and various mental and physical illnesses.

As years went by, the financial needs to care for the children and keep Casa Nazareth going continued to increase.  Day to day operations include costs for food, medicines, transportation, basic hygiene, cleaning supplies, electricity, water, staffing and much more.  In the last year, the children’s home was almost forced to close for lack of funds.

Due to the commitment of Lifestyle Holidays Vacation Club President Markus Wischenbart, Casa Nazareth remains open, operating and receiving children with special needs.  “Taking care of children and families with special needs in Puerto Plata is important to us,” said Wischenbart.  “We have a moral obligation to support our local community where it is most needed and this wonderful children’s home can count on our monthly financial donation.”
