KU Cancer Center Accepts Donation from Global Connections, Inc.

The headquarters of travel industry leader Global Connections, Inc. (GCI), a travel club fulfillment and service provider of Global Discovery Vacations, was the scene when GSI Sports, a division of Global Connections, donated $6000 to the University of Kansas (KU) Cancer Center.

Caroline Grey, Chree Smith, Stephanie Williams and Lori Murawski of GCI Team Travel, Huw Williams and Huw Savage, GSI Sports, Dr. Scott Weir, KU Cancer Center, Christine Wilson, KU Endowment Fund and Tom Lyons, CEO Global Connections.

The money was raised during GSI Sports’ Soccer Tournament and will be used towards finding a cure for children’s cancer. The Tournament was held at the Polo Fields in Kansas City, home of the Nutmeg and GSI Fall Cup Tournaments.

On hand to present the donation was Tom Lyons, President and CEO of GCI, and Huw Savage, GSI Tournament Director. Accepting the donation were Dr. Scott Weir, KU Cancer Center, and Christine Wilson, KU Endowment.

“KU Cancer Center is becoming one of the top cancer research centers in the country right here in our hometown,” said Tom Lyons. “We feel a sense of pride in the work KU is doing and are extremely honored to contribute to their efforts. Global is proud to say GSI Sports is “Kickin’ Cancer” one goal at a time.”
