Ka‘anapali Beach Club Raises Funds for 38th Hawai‘i Visitor Industry Charity Walk

Diamond Resorts International® applauds the hard work of its Ka‘anapali Beach Club team members in raising $10,378 for the annual Visitor Industry Charity Walk on Maui at the War Memorial Soccer Field. Proceeds from the statewide Charity Walk benefited several local charities, including Maui Food Bank, Maui Youth and Family Services and Special Olympics Maui, among others.

“We are proud of our team members for demonstrating considerable initiative and for so freely giving of their time to support the local community,” said Mike Flaskey, Chief Executive Officer Diamond Resorts International®. “All of us at Diamond Resorts would like to congratulate Ka‘anapali Beach Club for surpassing their fundraising goals by holding creative fundraising events such as making and selling bento boxes and linens.”

In addition to raising money prior to the event and participating in the 3.1-mile walk, the team also demonstrated Diamond Resorts’ deep commitment to hospitality by hosting members of the community at the booth managed by the resort. Director of Food and Beverage at the resort, Craig Erickson, and his team arrived at 4:30 a.m. and served more than 900 Scrambled Egg Bun Mes. The team also decorated their booth with slippers they purchased and later donated to a local organization who provides shoes to those who cannot afford them.

The Hawai‘i Lodging & Tourism Association began sponsoring the event in 1978, and since this date has raised over $30 million, all benefiting local organizations on the islands. The Maui Charity Walk continues to be sponsored by Maui Hotel & Lodging Association, Hawai‘i Lodging & Tourism Associations and the Hawai‘i Hotel Industry Foundation, with the Maui walk raising $10.4 million over the years.
