Interval International Adds Ninth Plaza Hotéis Property In Brazil To Its Worldwide Resort Network

Interval International, a prominent worldwide provider of vacation services, announced the addition of Plaza Barra First in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This property joins eight Plaza Vacation Club resorts that are currently part of Interval’s exchange network and are located in some of the country’s most popular vacation destinations. Plaza Vacation Club is owned and operated by Plaza Hotéis, one of Brazil’s leading hotel brands.

“We are proud to add a Rio location to the points-based vacation program that we launched five years ago,” said Carlos Henrique Schmidt, chairman of Plaza Hotéis. “We made the decision to partner with Interval because of its like- minded commitment to superior quality standards, and we are grateful to its experienced team, who has played a critical role in the evolution of our club. We also have benefitted from the company’s innovative tools, which have greatly enhanced our sales process.”

Plaza Barra First has 174 units set in a mixed-use complex in the Barra da Tijuca neighborhood of the West Zone of Rio. The on-site amenities and services include a restaurant, gym, sauna, kids’ club, and outdoor swimming pool surrounded by gardens. Nearby, owners and guests can play a round of golf at the Olympic Golf Course, shop at Rio Design Barra and Vogue Square Mall, go surfing at Barra da Tijuca or Reserve Beach, or visit the Marapendi Ecological Park and the Eco Lounge that are easily accessible via ferry.

“We are delighted to continue working with Plaza Hotéis, a shared ownership pioneer in Brazil, and are optimistic about the outlook of the industry there,” said Marcos Agostini, Interval’s executive vice president of global sales and business development. “Carlos and his team have enjoyed tremendous success since they entered the business with such high-quality product and diverse vacation experiences. Our members love visiting these properties and will be very excited about the newest addition.”

Situated on the Atlantic coast in southeast Brazil, Rio de Janeiro is a popular tourism destination known for its laid-back culture, temperate weather, spectacular natural landscapes, and iconic attractions and events. These include the breathtaking white-sand beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema; the Christ the Redeemer statue on Corcovado Mountain; Tijuca Forest, one of the world’s largest urban rainforests; Sugarloaf Mountain, the nearly 1,300-foot- high landmark situated at the entrance of Guanabara Bay; and Carnival, the festive four-day annual celebrations of music and dance held all over the country that lure millions of tourists.

New purchasers at Plaza Vacation Club will be enrolled as individual members of Interval International, entitling them to a host of year-round benefits, including the opportunity to exchange their points for stays at other resorts in Interval’s global network.
