He enjoyed life to its fullest, including a love for competitive sports, travel and horses. Tom was an inspirational business leader and encouraged his coworkers, friends and family to think for themselves and pursue their goals with unrelenting determination and self-assuredness.
Tom began his career in the hospitality industry in 1974 with Fairfield/Wyndham Resorts as the Vice President of Resort Operations and was promoted to Senior Vice President of Marketing by the end of his time with Fairfield in 1982. During this time Tom relocated from Ohio to East Tennessee, where he met his soon to be wife Connie. Connie and Tom had two beautiful children, Daniel and Christine, during their 32 year marriage.
After leaving Fairfield, Tom joined Tremont Resort Group alongside Charles Anderson, and was in charge of all resort operations. In 1994 Tom begin a career as the President of Avatar’s newly formed Time-Share Division where he met his future business partner, Stacy Hartzog. Tom and Stacy would soon join forces along with two other partners, Charles Anderson and Jerry Bradford in buying out Avatar’s Time-Share Division, ultimately creating Amber Group, Inc. a multi-site Developer, Management Company and Vacation Club, with resorts in Ormond Beach, Orlando, and Pigeon Forge.
