Grand Pacific Resorts hosts Annual RCI Christel House Open

Grand Pacific Resorts hosted the 16th Annual RCI Christel House Open at Shadowridge Country Club in Vista, California, enlisting the assistance of two Christel House graduates in its internship program. The company has been an avid Christel House supporter, raising over $56,000 at the tournament this year and over $750,000 cumulatively since 1998, helping to transform the lives of impoverished children around the world.

Christel House is dedicated to breaking the cycle of poverty by providing under-resourced communities with high-quality education and services to create a successful future for kids and families. This year, Grand Pacific Resorts expanded their commitment to the cause by providing two internships to graduates of Christel House.

Charley and Zicri attended a Christel House Academy in Indiana from first grade through their senior year in high school where they received a robust education and guidance with the college application process. Both of these Christel House ambassadors helped coordinate the event and shared their experiences with volunteers and golfers.

“I attended Christel House for twelve years, so it became important to me to put a face to the supporters behind a charity that provided me with the tools and support to get a quality education, and ultimately a college degree,” said Charley. “Everyone was so welcoming and it was great to have a chance to hear why people have been so generous to others. My hope is that one day I will be on the other side, golfing for a cause that means so much to me.”

Grand Pacific Resorts continues to foster partnerships to amplify the impact of its social responsibility programs. ABC network affiliate in San Diego, 10News, was a media sponsor for the second year helping to raise awareness leading up to the event. The partnership garnered an expansive reach on social media, along with the attendance of 100 golfers, a silent auction, and the generous contributions of sponsors. One hundred percent of the money raised will benefit Christel House programs and services around the world.

“By far, this was the best year ever hosting this tournament thanks to the addition of our Christel House ambassadors,” said Grand Pacific Resorts Co-President, David Brown. “Bringing supporters of the charity together with young people that embody what those services look like, and giving them an opportunity to create a meaningful connection – that’s bigger than one fundraiser. It inspires a lifetime of giving back. Our hope is to help break the cycle of poverty and create vibrant members of our community that will pay it forward for the next generation.”
