Grand Pacific Resorts’ 2024 Housekeeping Olympics: Honoring Dedication, Teamwork, and the Heart of Hospitality

At Grand Pacific Resorts, we believe the true magic behind every memorable guest experience is created by the dedication, skill, and passion of our Housekeeping and Maintenance Teams. This December, we celebrated that magic with the annual Housekeeping Olympics, where associates from our Southern California resorts gathered for a day of friendly competition, creativity, and camaraderie.

Held on the scenic lawn of the Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort, the event displayed what makes our teams exceptional: a commitment to excellence and a spirit of joy that resonates throughout every property. From the moment participants arrived – dressed in festive holiday-themed costumes – it was clear this was more than a competition. It was a celebration of the invaluable contributions these associates make every day.

The event began with a bilingual welcome from David Brown, Co-President of Grand Pacific Resorts, who set the tone with heartfelt words, “You are the best of the best! This competition honors your outstanding housekeeping skills. Our Owners and Guests appreciate your dedication to making their vacations truly memorable.”

The excitement kicked into high gear with events that highlighted both skill and teamwork. In the Toilet Paper/Bed Relay, Grand Pacific Palisades demonstrated unmatched speed and precision, earning a well-deserved 1st place. The Fastest Towel Folder competition saw San Clemente Cove fold their way to the top, combining dexterity and speed to claim another 1st place.

A standout addition this year was the Holiday-Themed Towel Origami Challenge, where teams blended creativity and skill to craft stunning scenes that could be showcased in resort lobbies. From penguins and snowmen to elaborately adorned Christmas trees, the artistry on display was nothing short of inspiring. Southern California Beach Club took home 1st place in this category with a display that truly embodied holiday magic.

The day wasn’t just about winning; it was about fostering connections and celebrating a shared passion for hospitality. Teams cheered each other on, shared laughs over live mariachi music, and enjoyed a delicious spread of Mexican cuisine. The atmosphere buzzed with joy and pride, reminding everyone that while they may work at different properties, they are all part of the Grand Pacific Resorts family.

This event underscores a core belief at Grand Pacific Resorts: Housekeeping and Maintenance Teams are the heart of the house. Every bed made, every towel folded, and every room cleaned is more than a task – it’s an act of care that transforms a stay into a cherished memory. The Housekeeping Olympics is one way we ensure these often unsung heroes get the recognition they so richly deserve.

Clinton Owen, General Manager at Carlsbad Seapointe Resort, captured the day’s spirit perfectly: “Everybody here is amazing. Even though we’re all from different properties, we’re all one team.”

As we reflect on the success of this year’s Housekeeping Olympics, we are reminded of the dedication and heart that drive our associates. These teams don’t just uphold the standards of hospitality – they elevate them. Their creativity, attention to detail, and unwavering commitment make Grand Pacific Resorts a place where guests feel cared for, every single stay.
