Global Connections, Inc. (GCI) has selected nine exceptional photos from nearly 1000 entries in its Annual “Shoot for the Stars” Contest.
The contest began in 2005 with barely 30 entries from Global Discovery Vacations club members.
Travel industry leader GCI offers the members of its Global Discovery Vacations (GDV) club program a wide variety of leisure benefits and vacation options. Member engagement activities and contests such as Shoot for the Stars continue to grow in popularity among GDV’s 75,000+ active members.
First, second and third prizes were awarded in each of the three categories: Family & Friends, Landscape and Wacky & Wild. The prizes included vacation lodging in resort condominiums and gift certificates towards GDV travel and leisure products and services.
“Our ‘Shoot for the Stars’ contest both engages our GDV members and provides us with authentic images to use in myriad ways,” said Melanie Gring, Global Connections’ Vice President of Strategic Alliances and Public Relations. “We utilize these great pictures in our member collateral materials, on the website, and in testimonials. These are real folks building wonderful memories and we are proud to give them another platform to share their vacation experiences.”
Global Connections, the highly respected resort developer, full service travel agency, travel club fulfillment and service provider has sales distributorships located throughout the United States. The national company’s demographic and geographic profile was evident in the numerous photographs submitted for the contest.
Winning images included family fun time at Universal Studios in Florida, a view of Eagle’s Nest in Austria, Puente Nuevo Bridge in Spain, Hawaii’s Kilauea Volcano, Maui’s Hana Waterfall, and Bamboo Beach Club in Clearwater, Florida.
First prize in the Family and Friends Category went to Andrea and Bradford N. of Grove City, Ohio for a whimsical family beach photo.
Richard and Clara S. of Pittsburgh submitted the winning shot in the Landscape Category of Kilkannon Home Farm, Ireland.
The first prize in the Wild and Wacky category for an exciting whale watching picture was awarded to Kenneth and Lesann Y. of Downers Grove, Illinois.
