Tom Lyons, President and CEO of Global Connections, Inc. (GCI) has purchased Gulf Shore Pizza (formerly Marker 8 Pizza) just across the street from GCI’s popular Beso Del Sol Resort in Dunedin, Florida.
Lyons, an entrepreneur who also owns Title Boxing Club, Myla Rose Saloon (Breckenridge, CO) and is involved in numerous philanthropic initiatives, says he opened Gulf Shore Pizza to take “some of the pressure off” Beso Del Sol’s Tiki Bar kitchen. The Marker 8 Tiki Bar is a popular restaurant serving the Beso Del Sol Resort guests and locals.
Tom relates that he thoroughly enjoyed the “Pizza Chef Competition” at the pizza parlor. Chefs from all over the area came to show off their specialty crusts and sauces. Tom’s question to himself for each “contestant” was: “If I didn’t own the place, would I eat the pizza?” The winning chef scored high marks for a delicious thin crust pizza which is already in high demand, both with delivery and walk-in traffic.
Gulf Shore Pizza serves traditional pizzas as well as some creative specialties such as All Veggie, Chicken Bacon Ranch, and Sweet Jalapeno Bacon. Craft Beer is on tap and a selection of wine is available as well. Gulf Shore Pizza features Happy Hour Slices from 9 p.m. to close every day.
