Global Connections Inc. (GCI), a pioneer in the travel club industry, announced that Club Loco, a distributor of its travel club product Global Discovery Vacations, has donated $3,000 to Teen Angels, an organization which helps homeless and underprivileged high school teens. A portion of the monies donated will be used to start the Teen Angels program in North Myrtle Beach Middle School and the balance will be used for the existing program in North Myrtle Beach High School.
Teen Angels, a non-profit organization, is headed by Renee Hembree and based at North Myrtle Beach High School. This organization assists these kids in both the local high school and the middle school by providing schoolbooks, yearbooks, personal care products, transportation to dentists and doctors, and other small items so that these students can stay in school and have a better future. Teen Angels further offers assistance with college expenses for its youth that have been successful in this program.
According to Alena Lopez, Office Manager of Club Loco, “The donation is particularly noteworthy because it is allowing the program to expand into the North Myrtle Beach Middle School. My child is starting in that middle school and it brought home the need of our community to support the program.”
