Global Connections’ Announces New Head Chef for Myla Rose Saloon at Lodge by The Blue

Global Connections, Inc. (GCI) has announced a new head chef at its popular Myla Rose Saloon at Lodge by The Blue resort (LBTB) in Breckenridge, Colorado. LBTB, owned and managed by GCI, is located in the heart of some of the best skiing in Colorado, perfect for families looking for a convenient vacation spot in the Rockies. The mountain-side resort also features event venues and is a favorite among members of GCI’s popular travel club, Global Discovery Vacations, as well as retail guests.

Myla Rose Saloon, named after GCI President and CEO Tom Lyons’ granddaughter, is home to locally sourced upscale comfort food, happy hours featuring local beers, wines and spirits and a breathtaking view from the award-winning patio overlooking Mt. Quandary.

The cozy restaurant is thrilled to welcome Olivia Hicks as head chef, joining the team following her role as sous-chef at Relish, a local foodie favorite. Hicks brings with her a sense of creativity and a bold passion to continue Myla Rose Saloon’s tradition of unique seasonal menus and standout entrees like the braised bison pot pie with Hicks’ signature homemade cheddar biscuit, making its debut this winter.

“When the opportunity arose to fill our head chef position, Olivia was our first choice,” said Mac McNamara, Myla Rose Saloon’s general manager. “She’s talented, dedicated and has the expertise we were looking for to continue to give our guests the comfort food they know and love but on a whole new level, all while maintaining the spirit of Breckenridge on our plates.”

Aside from continuing the unique flavor of the Myla Rose Saloon menu, Olivia looks forward to hosting guest options when they book their special events at one of the four LBTB venues. Overlooking the Blue River, the largest space accommodates up to 120 guests.

Hicks is the first female head chef at Myla Rose Saloon, and is currently developing wine and cocktail pairings for the hearty winter menu with bar manager Danny Banks.

“Our customers enjoy hanging out at Myla Rose because they get a taste of Colorado mountain life in our food, drinks and hospitality,” said McNamara. “With Olivia at the helm, that legacy will not only continue but grow even stronger under her guidance and we couldn’t be more excited.”
