Game On: Sports Illustrated Resorts Announces New Location in Sports-Loving Chicago

From the electric energy of game day to the rich tapestry of historic landmarks, Chicago offers an unforgettable sports experience that draws fans from around the world. Home to celebrated teams and legendary venues, the Windy City welcomes over 55 million visitors each year, blending world-class athletic action with vibrant culture, deep-rooted history, and unforgettable vacation experiences.

Rooted in the more than 70-year legacy of the Sports Illustrated brand and the over 100 magazine covers featuring Chicago sports,the property — currently operating as a hotel in the Loop — will put owners and guests at the center of the action. Located in the heart of the city along the river, just a block off Michigan Avenue, the existing hotel will be transformed into a Sports Illustrated-inspired resort, featuring a mix of approximately 250 units.

The resort’s updated lobby will honor the building’s origins as a historic financial institution by preserving its grand staircase, while reimagining the space with the energy of the Sports Illustrated brand—featuring striking imagery and contemporary, sports-inspired design elements. New amenities will include an exclusive owner’s lounge and a signature fitness center. The property will also introduce a lineup of modern food and beverage venues, including a vibrant street-level coffee shop, an inviting full-service restaurant, and a lively sports bar—each designed to complement the dynamic spirit of the destination.

As a conversion from an existing hotel, the property will remain open during construction. Sports fans will be able to enjoy the resort during its preseason era this winter, with project completion and full brand offering expected in late 2026. The resort will offer flexible, points-based ownership options, with sales beginning in early next year.

The addition of this location reinforces the multi-brand strategy of Travel + Leisure Co. to expand its portfolio into new vacation experiences tailored for today’s lifestyle travelers. It also supports the company’s vision for Sports Illustrated Resorts to grow its national footprint, adding to the previously announced locations in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Nashville, Tennessee.
