Camelback Resort Owners to Open The Kartrite Hotel & Indoor Waterpark

Ken Ellis & Arthur Berry III, co-owners of the Poconos’ premier adventure destination, Camelback Resort, have announced their next widely anticipated project. The Kartrite Hotel & Indoor Waterpark is being built on the Resorts World Catskills campus located in the Town of Thompson, N.Y. Set to open in early 2019, The Kartrite will feature two acres of exhilarating four-season indoor waterpark space and a luxury hotel with 324 exquisitely designed guest suites.

Ellis and Berry are recognized nationally as the innovators behind the award-winning Camelback Lodge & Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark located in Tannersville, Pa. Their newest development provides an opportunity for them to raise the bar for family-friendly adventure once again.

“We’re building upon the family-focused thrills and amenities that have made Camelback Resort & Aquatopia a premier destination in the Pocono Mountains,” said Berry. “The Kartrite’s location at the Resorts World Catskills property provides a unique opportunity for us to deliver a whole new adventure for guests as part of a true global destination.”

Aquatic Development Group (ADG) has been contracted to design and build the indoor waterpark at The Kartrite. ADG’s award-winning leadership and cutting-edge innovation will create a modern, state-of-the-art indoor waterpark for guests of all ages. Inspired by the architecture of indoor waterparks in Europe, the Kartrite’s unobstructed column-free construction will feature a barrel-shaped transparent Texlon roof that will bathe visitors in natural sunlight throughout the year. This will allow tropical plants to thrive inside the waterpark, allowing guests to be immersed in a vegetation-rich environment like no other indoor waterpark in the nation. The waterpark will also feature a signature mezzanine, uniquely designed with luxury cabanas.

The Kartrite’s namesake is the mysterious and inspiring worldly explorer character, Kartrite Van Der Berris. The beloved character was introduced on the Camelback property and is a fitting inspiration for the new world-class hotel and waterpark. The Kartrite will feature multiple innovative restaurants, a relaxing spa, a ropes course, and an arcade.

Built in the midst of 1,600 acres of wilderness in the Catskill Mountains, this re-imagined Catskills hotel embraces the beauty and historic nature of the region while becoming the new standard for both architecture and fun-packed adventure at every turn. The décor is decidedly cheeky, featuring a bold color canvas and chic furnishings harmoniously co-existing with charming whimsical accents that are sure to spark smiles and conversation.

“The Kartrite brand personifies global exploration, and the cheeky, contemporary design will put an entirely re-imagined Catskills back on the map for a new generation of family travelers,” said Ken Ellis, Co-Owner of The Kartrite Hotel & Indoor Waterpark and CEO of Aquatic Development Group. “The Kartrite Hotel & Indoor Waterpark will be perfectly situated to exceed the expectations of the most discerning adventure-seekers from the New York metropolitan area and beyond.”

The opening of The Kartrite will also have a positive economic impact on the region and will create 600 permanent jobs and up to 250 construction jobs.
