Every October, world-wide awareness focuses on the struggles that over 12 million people, (mostly women) experience fighting breast cancer. It’s the most common cause of cancer in women despite the efforts of the top scientists are working to find a cure. Until the cure is found, an organization called Send Me On Vacation (SMOV) eases the effects of living with breast cancer by partnering with vacation providers who find it in their heart to donate vacations to survivors. These vacations have an immediate effect on restoring and rejuvenating the body, mind and spirit.
Lifestyle Holidays Vacation Club (LHVC) is SMOV’s top vacation contributor of all-inclusive vacations, sending 20 applicants on dream vacations each year.
“It’s an honor and a privilege to host these vacations at our resorts. Both our staff and our vacationers love to see the happiness and share in the excitement of all the survivors,” says Markus Wischenbart, President of Lifestyle Holidays Vacation Club and Resorts. “Giving survivors the chance to take a break from fighting cancer is at the top of our list each year when we determine how sharing our resources can change the lives of survivors in need.”
In addition to hosting two vacation weeks in Puerto Plata in May of 2019, LHVC and Send Me On Vacation are planning to providing a workshop on “Living with Breast Cancer” for local residents. Lifestyle believes in supporting the community with philanthropic partners that generously give back. Cathy Backus, President and founder of SMOV, says that SMOV incorporates offering community services projects in every country it serves. Currently, the organization serves eight countries and sends 100 recipients on healing vacations yearly.
