$60 Million Investment Sees Viva Wyndham Resorts Begin Construction Of New 750-Room Oceanfront Hotel In Miches, Dominican Republic
Viva Wyndham Resorts, a collection of all-inclusive resorts located in the Caribbean, including the Bahamas, Dominican Republic, and Mexico, today announced the groundbreaking of a 750-room hotel in Miches, Dominican Republic, in an event that was attended by President Luis Abinader.
The resort, the first hotel to settle in the Miches area, was made possible by a $60 million investment to kick off the first stage of construction. It is expected to open its doors in 2023 and will generate 500 direct jobs and 1,500 indirect positions.
“For Viva Wyndham, this resort marks a new period of expansion in the tourism of our country and the region. It adds us to the development of Miches and opens the door to later participating in the Pedernales tourism project, as well as the international sector, in Jamaica,” said Ettore Colussi, President of Viva Wyndham Resorts. “Because we believe in the country and we trust the government that runs it, we are here today starting the first of the two hotels to be built in this tourist complex,” added Colussi.
The president of the all-inclusive resorts also explained that the property will start with a 486-room family hotel to be completed in 2023, then a second 264-room development of units oriented to the adult market will be constructed at a later date.
Colussi highlighted that Viva Wyndham Resorts and its partners are characterized by “being pioneers” in the history of Dominican tourism, in the development of Bayahibe as a tourist destination, and in the creation of one of the first all-inclusive hotel chains in the Dominican Republic. Viva Wyndham is also the first Dominican hotel company to establish itself abroad, in Mexico and the Bahamas.
Viva Wyndham Resorts is also a trailblazer in the adoption of sustainable practices such as the Blue Flag certification, the international certification Cristal, and many others.
Colussi explained that the company is making this investment because, “We believe in the present and the future of our country as a successful tourist destination,” and also because of the enthusiasm President Luis Abinader has shown by dedicating himself to putting tourism in motion as the engine that will restore dynamism to the Dominican economy.
In its first stage, the Viva Wyndham Miches Resort will have three buildings, a pool area of 9,182 square foot, outdoor spaces, a commercial-use building, a nightclub, gym, an amphitheater with a capacity for 1,100 people, room for events, à la carte restaurants and buffet, three bars and a café and ice cream parlor, as well as a space dedicated to members of the Viva Club.
The architectural design is by Antonio Imbert and the main construction firm is Kuky Silverio Industrial Engineering.
