Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific, one of the Gold Coast’s largest private employers, has teamed up with Bond University’s Employability Lab to deliver an innovative work experience project for students.
Over the next seven weeks, undergraduates from across several disciplines will design and implement marketing campaigns for the Lifestyle by Wyndham benefit program, which offers its members exclusive deals with partners including Bupa, Harvey Norman, Event Cinemas and Woolworths, as well as discounted eGift cards from a range of top brands.
The Bond University Employability Lab and Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific partnership kicked off on Wednesday 25 September following a briefing with students, who will now work in teams to analyze the current product offering, propose improvements and develop marketing campaigns based on their findings.
The campaigns will be presented to Wyndham Destination’s Asia Pacific leaders at the company’s Bundall corporate office in mid-November, and the winning team will be given the opportunity to implement their ideas under the guidance of the company.
Bond University has a strong focus on employability, underpinned by its personalized approach to learning, which includes dedicated career guidance through its Career Development Centre, the ‘Beyond Bond’ compulsory professional development and community engagement program, and the new Employability Lab aimed at providing students with opportunities to gain industry experience throughout their degree.
“The Employability Lab gives students the opportunity to learn through real-world projects,” said Employability Lab Manager Chelsie Croft. “Through this partnership with Wyndham, they will learn key skills around research, analysis, project management, running campaigns and building successful business programs, all while gaining amazing exposure to a market-leading company.”
Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Customer Experience at Wyndham Destinations Asia Pacific, Bruce Harkness, said he was excited about the partnership.
“We are passionate about providing opportunities for talented young achievers to further their skills and gain industry exposure, which is why we are proud to partner with Bond University through the
Employability Lab,” Mr Harkness said. “I’m looking forward to seeing the students’ ideas come to life over the course of the project.”
