Resort Trades: Report from AMDETUR

June 2017; Crossville, TennesseeResort Trades, a free, monthly B2B publication distributed to timeshare (vacation ownership) industry professionals, has begun sending updates on the AMDETUR conference currently underway, June 20-23, 2017. As part of Resort Trades’ international outreach, the company’s CEO Tim Wilson and Publisher Sharon Scott, RRP, are in attendance at event being held at the Sheraton Buganvilias in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Demonstrating the importance of timeshare to Mexico’s tourism industry, the Minister of Tourism Enrique de la Madrid Cordero appeared at the conference’s opening ceremony on Tuesday. During his remarks, Cordero commented on the importance of timeshare as part of the tourism sector.  He acknowledged there is still work to be done by the state agency with regards to security. But, he reassured listeners that his organization is fully focused on bringing together resources to support resorts and improve conditions.

The president of AMDETUR, Carlos Trujillo, expressed his thanks to Resort Trades for our participation as a media sponsor. “We need everyone’s support at this time,” says Trujillo. “Without it, the industry itself is weakened. The resort industry in Mexico is a large part of the economy, so that makes it even more important.”

AMDETUR, the trade association representing timeshare resort developers in Mexico, was established in 1987 “as a result of the rapid and sustained growth of Mexico’s tourist resort developers and the need to maintain a solid front for negotiating and working together with authorities and private enterprise, to develop standards and define an appropriate regulatory system that would support the Mexican tourist real estate industry.”
