(June 4, 2018) – Palace Resorts, the company that sets the standard in five-star, all-inclusive resort accommodations – proudly announces a joint partnership with world-renowned Chef Massimo Bottura to bring TheOsteria Francescana Experience to the Mexican Caribbean. Known as one of the Top 50 Chefs in the world, Massimo Bottura will bring his culinary talents to Moon Palace Cancun for only two exclusive nights, on August 18th and 19th 2018. Proceeds from this upscale dining experience, in partnership with the Palace Foundation, will go to Food for Soul, Massimo Bottura’s non-profit organization that creates and sustains community kitchens around the world to raise awareness on the issues of food waste and social isolation.

The message launched by Bottura’s organization and sustained by the Palace Foundation sheds light on the contemporary issues of food wastage and food insecurity as two sides of the same coin. With over 800 million people undernourished, still one third of the food produced every year goes to the landfill. Instead of viewing surplus ingredients as waste, Bottura sees them as a gift we can all transform for a greater good.

About Massimo Bottura

An innovator and restaurateur for over twenty years, Massimo Bottura has consolidated his reputation as one of the world’s most creative culinary figures. His internationally renowned three Michelin star restaurant, Osteria Francescana, was named number 1 on The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list in 2016. In 1986 Massimo Bottura departed on his life’s journey when he bought Trattoria del Campazzo on the outskirts of Modena. Working alongside the rezdora Lidia Cristoni and an apprenticeship with French chef Georges Coigny, he built his culinary foundation on a combination of regional Italian cooking and classical French training. In 1994 Bottura sold Campazzo and departed for Montecarlo to work with Alain Ducasse at Louis XV. About Food for Soul

Food for Soul is a non-profit organisation founded by chef Massimo Bottura to empower local communities to fight against food waste through social inclusion. The organisation took over from the successful experience of Refettorio Ambrosiano, the first community kitchen launched in Milan in occasion of Expo2015, with subsequent projects launched in Rio de Janeiro (Refettorio Gastromotiva), London (Refettorio Felix at St Cuthbert’s) and Paris (Refettorio Paris), as well as Modena (Social Tables Ghirlandina) and Bologna (Social Tables Antoniano) in Italy. Each project is unique but shares the common themes of using surplus food, working with artists to create engaging dining spaces and serving dishes to vulnerable members of the local community.
