Obituary Jack (Giacomo) Michael Occhiogrosso

Born in Brooklyn, New York to Nunzio and Mary Occhiogrosso, Jack passed away on August 31, 2023.

Jack was a Veteran, serving in the Army National Guard. After graduating from Massapequa H.S in 1960, he attended Farmingdale College, studying engineering. Jack was a member of Local 28, New York, and with a change of careers after moving to Florida in 1977, joined the pioneers of the Time Share Industry. He worked with developers and regulators in Florida, Hawaii and Washington, DC, to form ethics and practices in the new industry. He served on the (National) ARRDA Resale Committee, ARRDA-PAC Executive Committee, Legislative & Public Education Fund and Chairman’s League. In Addition, he was an ARRDA-PAC Trustee and a Fellow of the International Foundation for Timesharing.

He worked with Captran Resorts International and Mariner Properties, and his own RVC Hawaiian property, directing Sales and Marketing. Jack was on the board of Myakka River District, locally. Jack left the industry after developing the Sunterra Resorts’ properties (now Hilton Grand Vacations) in Hawaii as Director of the Hawaiian Islands.

Jack was a kind and understanding man mentoring many, both through friendship and business. He gave lectures for the Resort and Hospitality Program on Marketing and Sales, at FGCU, and for the Time Share Industry Globally. He was a speaker for Interval International Conferences Internationally.

Jack was also talented in woodworking and made many beautiful furniture pieces. He played at golf, loved to travel and managed to solve many home owner problems. His love of his pets was why they survived and tended to ripe old ages.

Jack is survived by his wife of 54 years, Peggie, her sister Fran, her brother Charles, Sister-in-law Sharon, Sister-in-Law Maureen and his many loved nieces and nephews as well as his much-loved New York Cousins and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution in memory of Jack Occhiogrosso is suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Humane Society.

Celebrations of his life will be held in Long Island, New York (to be announced), and a Fort Myers, FL Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 21st, at St. Columbkille Catholic Church Chapel, 12171 Iona Road, Fort Myers, FL 33908 at 10:00 a.m.
