Meet Tonyia, September’s SMOV Survivor
She did all the right things. She felt the lump. She told her doctors. They did nothing. She told them repeatedly. Finally someone listened and agreed to do a mammogram. It takes a very strong person to hear the words you have breast cancer while pregnant and then you are told that you or the baby may not make it… The thought of considering harsh treatment while your baby is in utero is the worst decision you will ever have to make. The baby was taken at 28 weeks and weighed 1 pound and a few ounces. She had to remain in the hospital until she gained 5 pounds. She recently came home and now she is struggling to find formula for her beautiful daughter. We did a fundraiser to to help. The beauty of knowing people with big hearts and a few resources allows you to help others.
Now she’s on her way, sometimes it takes the smallest effort to send someone’s life in a new direction. These are the things that the women I support have to deal with during their breast cancer journey. And it shouldn’t be this way… THANK YOU in advance for donating weeks to Send Me On Vacation. They truly change lives and bring so much joy, happiness and relief to survivors in need. A vacation after fighting breast cancer with your baby is PRICELESS!
