I’m living with Stage IV Metastatic breast cancer. I live in New Jersey. Before my diagnosis I was a healthy Registered nurse. This diagnosis has really changed my life. I was originally diagnosed with breast cancer in 2017 and I had a double Mastectomy and underwent radiation treatment. I thought my cancer journey was over until April 2021. I went to the hospital for what I thought was just a bladder infection but upon X-ray of my lower back revealed spots on my liver and bones. The cancer had returned to my liver and bones. I had just had twin boys the previous year in July and nothing was seen. I now have six children. Two of which are in college 21,19, 15, 13, and now, four year old twins. I have always dreamed of traveling once my children were of a certain age but with the drastic financial drop in my income I just don’t see that happening in this lifetime. I had to end my career of working as a nurse due to this ugly monster, cancer. Cancer has taken all my hopes and dreams and replaced them with psychotherapy just to keep my sanity. All I do is take pills. I miss out on my children because there is always an appointment or I am not feeling well. I look at cancer as some sort of punishment. It’s just not right to live like this. I am just living to stay alive. Cancer has taken my self esteem. I’ve lost all of my hair & teeth. It’s just a depressing ordeal to have to deal with on a daily basis. I dream of living again. It’s just overwhelming and I just need a break from it all. My biggest fear is not being here for my children and if that’s the case, I pray I can leave them with “just one amazing experience to a drive to vacation.
