In May 2015, at 32 years of age, I was diagnosed with Stage III breast cancer. My journey was long and hard, but I continued to be active, work and even date. I met my future wife, Celena, early on in my diagnosis/treatment. From day one, she helped me navigate this journey and became my biggest advocate and supporter. In the fall of 2016, routine imaging showed the cancer had spread to my bone. To say we were devastated was an understatement. Again, I battled with the help of my family and friends and remained in remission for 5 YEARS. I thought I was in the clear, forever… Then, this past fall I went through another scare when another lesion was found in my bone. It was just a reminder that nothing in life is guaranteed. I am lucky to have such a great partner in Celena. Together, years ago, we decided to look at life through a different lens. So, we love, we travel, we don’t take things for granted. Not everyone can say they do that. I am a lucky person, regardless of this diagnosis. With each holiday, trip, and occasion it is a celebration. A celebration of life. And time. Because our time on earth is finite, but love and experience are not.
