Massanutten Resort Announces Michael Hammes as New General Manager
Massanutten Resort, a premier four-season resort located in the heart of Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, is thrilled to announce the appointment of Michael Hammes as its new General Manager and Vice President. Following an extensive search, Hammes stood out as the ideal candidate to lead Massanutten Resort into its next chapter. Hammes, who officially joins Massanutten Resort today, is an industry veteran with an impressive career spanning various iconic roles. His experience and leadership qualities make him a valuable addition to the Massanutten team, and he is eager to become acquainted with the resort’s staff, guests and community.

Hammes began his career with Planet Hollywood Restaurants in Chicago, playing a crucial role in opening over 12 of the world’s busiest restaurants. His journey continued with key leadership positions at renowned resorts such as Omni Barton Creek and The San Luis in Texas, Wintergreen Resort in Virginia, Mammoth Resort in California, The Canyons/Park City Resort in Utah and Keystone Resort in Colorado. Most recently, he served as the Director of Base Operations at Snoqualmie Ski Resort, located just outside of Seattle. Throughout his career, Hammes has demonstrated expertise not only in managing operations but also in his fervent dedication to creating outstanding guest experiences and leading dynamic, high-performing teams.
