Linda Mayhugh, Advantage Travel, COO of Advantage Travel, has been nominated to be President of the Cooperative Association of Resort Exchangers (C.A.R.E.). C.A.R.E. is a non-profit organization that serves companies with the need to find rental or exchange outlets for inventory or with excess inventory for which they need an outlet.
“After more than 30 years in the vacation industry, it has been an honor and privilege to serve as a Vice President of the C.A.R.E. Board of Directors for the last five and a half years,” says Mayhugh. “It was even more of an honor to accept current C.A.R.E. President Alain Carr’s nomination for President of the C.A.R.E. organization at the Fall 2014 C.A.R.E. Conference in Seattle, WA this past October.”
General Members will cast their votes at the Spring 2015 C.A.R.E. Conference being held in Annapolis, MD on May 2-5.
C.A.R.E. was established in 1985 by representatives of timeshare resorts who found that by exchanging vacation inventory among themselves, they were better able to satisfy their owners with increased vacation opportunities. Today, member companies are also able to utilize inventory and generate revenue through wholesale rentals while continuing to offer expanded exchange and fulfillment options.
C.A.R.E. members explain it is not an exchange company; it does not own or control inventory or guarantee fulfillment of travel requests, and/or rental or sale of any type of inventory, service or product. What it does do is to provide a
networking platform that offers the tools for individual business enhancement while requiring its Member companies to adhere to its Code of Standards and Ethics. As Mayhugh puts it, “C.A.R.E. is all about relationships.”
She explains that member companies currently offer 2500 vacation properties and service approximately one million vacation owners and members. “The key to recognizing the value of the association is to participate in at least one meeting a year,” she adds.
C.A.R.E. is an international organization, with members throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Australia.
Mayhugh’s company, Advantage Travel, is a full service, licensed and bonded travel agency, which was founded with the development of the GreatEscapes travel club platform in 1995. The company assists resorts and timeshare developers in converting owners from weeks to points in the various exchange companies as well as successfully cultivating other enhancements to any current product line. In addition, Advantage provides a wide range of revenue generation services including deed back/collections services and alternative conversions such as tour-no-buy, expired package, leaseback, resort guest and referrals into higher level ownership products.
