Introducing New Cushman 72-Volt AC Electric Shuttles
Textron Specialized Vehicles Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT) company, announces its new line of Cushman® Shuttle personnel carriers powered by the company’s exclusive 72-volt AC electric drivetrain. The leader in AC electric drivetrains in the golf-car industry under its E-Z-GO brand, Textron Specialized Vehicles has incorporated this innovative technology, with its improved energy efficiency and increased range, into its Cushman Shuttle 4, Shuttle 6 and Shuttle 8 models.
“Our newest Cushman Shuttles are the latest example of our commitment to developing vehicles that support the evolving needs and demands of our customers,” said Kevin Holleran, president and CEO of Textron Specialized Vehicles, which designs and manufactures Cushman vehicles in Augusta, Ga. “Leveraging the proven energy savings, power and range benefits of our 72-volt AC technology, these vehicles move our customers’ employees and guests more efficiently and cost-effectively.”
AC drivetrain technology is superior to DC electric power due to its alternating flow of charge, allowing it to deliver more power and performance while using less energy. The 72-volt AC drivetrain on the newest Shuttle models generates longer battery life, enabling vehicles to travel further between charges, and delivers remarkable hill-climbing capabilities.
Known for transporting people and cargo throughout large facilities, Shuttle vehicles are commonly found hard at work in a range of applications, including golf courses, resorts, airports, educational facilities, and college and commercial campuses. Cushman Shuttles feature standard headlights, brush guard, hour meter and USB port, and can be equipped with a range of options and accessories, including a limited-slip differential, brush guard, windshields, canopies, and more.
The Cushman Shuttle 4 features seating for up to four people, with a stake-side cargo bed to carry equipment, luggage or personal belongings. The Shuttle 6 features seating for up to six people, and the Shuttle 8 can carry up to eight.
