Miami, FL, December 19, 2018 – Interval International, a prominent worldwide provider of vacation services, and the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association Education Foundation (CHTAEF) recently hosted three days of education workshops in Aruba. The seminars, which were designed to provide training and development for the nearly 70 hospitality industry employees from 14 Aruba-based resorts who attended, were underwritten in part by a $20,000 donation made to the Foundation by Interval and participating member resorts earlier this year.
“Interval is proud to join with its resort affiliates to support the new training initiatives,” said Neil Kolton, Interval’s director of business development for the Caribbean and Southeast U.S. and CHTAEF board member. “The Caribbean is a leading destination for vacation owners, so our investment in the professional development of its hospitality associates is critically important.”
“For nearly 20 years, Interval and its member resorts have provided funds for college scholarships for hundreds of Caribbean students,” said Karolin Troubetzkoy, CHTAEF chairman. “Their ongoing support now enables us to launch this new certification program that will train hospitality staff members in core skill sets and elevate the quality of operations across the region.”
Tracy Bell, CHTAEF administrator, presented certificates to workshop participants at the graduation ceremony. She was joined by Ronella Tin Asjoe-Croes, Aruba Tourism Authority CEO; Andy Osbourne, Aruba Timeshare Association interim president; and Kolton. Dyane Vis-Escalona, Aruba Tourism Authority business manager, also participated in the event, highlighting the importance of continued training for tourism professionals.
The CHTAEF was established in 1986 as a non-profit, tax-exempt organization through which scholarships and special assistance are made available for the education of Caribbean hotel industry personnel and students pursuing careers in tourism. As part of its mission, it provides people throughout the region with an awareness of the industry’s varied career opportunities, as well as technical and professional development. Since 2000, Interval and its resort partners have donated approximately $450,000 to the CHTAEF for the education of Caribbean nationals.
