Grupo Vidanta Affiliates Its Newest Grand Mayan Property with Interval International

Interval International, a prominent worldwide provider of vacation services and an operating business of Interval Leisure Group (Nasdaq: IILG), announced the affiliation of The Grand Mayan at Vidanta Puerto Peñasco in Mexico, the first of Grupo Vidanta’s The Grand Mayan resorts to join Interval’s global vacation exchange network. Grupo Vidanta is one of the largest and most recognized developers of luxury resorts and tourism infrastructure in Latin America.

“This visionary company has a proven track record of developing properties with exceptional amenities and services. Its portfolio incorporates innovative architecture, world-class entertainment, gourmet dining, and the best names in golf course design,” said Marcos Agostini, Interval’s senior vice president of resort sales and business development for Latin America. “We’re delighted to welcome The Grand Mayan, which joins the eight Grande Luxxe, The Grand Bliss, and The Bliss properties in our network.”

Located approximately 70 miles south of the Arizona border, the property features a unique setting created by the contrast between the desert landscape and the deep blue Sea of Cortez and golden sand beaches. The resort offers 60 well-appointed units with elegant contemporary wood furniture and warm accents, marble bathrooms, and terraces with sweeping views. One- and two-bedroom accommodations include an open-plan living area, kitchen, and dining area.

“We’re pleased to affiliate The Grand Mayan at Vidanta Puerto Peñasco, our newest property in The Grand Mayan family, with Interval International,” said Iván Chávez, executive vice president of Grupo Vidanta. “One of our company’s tenets is the pursuit of the highest standards of quality and service, and Interval helps us deliver on that promise.”

Guests at the resort have access to upscale amenities and services available on-site and at the adjacent Grupo Vidanta property. These include restaurants that offer everything from casual dining to gourmet international cuisine, an extensive lazy river, indoor/outdoor pools and sprawling pool areas, a full-service spa and fitness center, and tennis courts. For golf enthusiasts, The Nicklaus Design Golf Course is a remarkable 7,210-yard, 18-hole, par-72 course with nine ocean-side holes, situated on a two-mile peninsula surrounded by a natural estuary, an inlet, and the Sea of Cortez.

The resort also features theme nights with live entertainment, beach volleyball, board games, bocce ball tournaments, tequila and wine tastings, and a botanical tour.

Additional activities and attractions that visitors to Puerto Peñasco can enjoy are water sports, shopping, dining, and nightlife. Excursions are available to the Pinacate Biosphere Reserve and Great Altar Desert, a more than 2,750 square-mile protected area that was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2013. Two-thirds of the reserve is covered by sand dunes and volcanic craters similar to the moon’s surface.

New members who purchase at The Grand Mayan at Vidanta Puerto Peñasco will be enrolled as individual members ofInterval International and will also become Interval Gold® members, entitling them to a number of flexible exchange opportunities and upgraded benefits and services. These include Interval Options®, the ability to exchange their resort week toward a cruise, tour, golf, or spa vacation; ShortStay Exchange®; five percent off the best hotel rates powered by the Orbitz Partner Network; Hertz Gold Plus Rewards® membership, which gives them the opportunity to earn bonus points for up to two free weekend rental days; discounts on Getaway vacation rentals; special offers at hotels, restaurants, and retail outlets worldwide; and VIP ConciergeSM for personal assistance, 24/7.
