For the sixth year in a row, associates from the Wyndham Vacation Ownership (WVO) Legal Services team joined superstars from Global Force Wrestling to provide an unforgettable experience to campers at Camp Boggy Creek in Eustis, Fla. The camp, founded in 1996 by Paul Newman and General H. Norman Schwarzkopf, welcomes children with serious illnesses and life-threatening conditions to enjoy a summer camp experience free of charge. More than 30 Wyndham volunteers assisted with this year’s “Champions for Children” charity event featuring 16 premier Global Force wrestlers during the camp’s “Hemophilia and Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis” week.
“We greatly appreciate the Global Force Wrestling team and Wyndham volunteers coming out to Camp to provide an exhibition event,” said June Clark, chief executive officer, Camp Boggy Creek. “They do a terrific job and the campers look forward to the fun and excitement each year. It’s heartwarming to see the Global Force Wrestling team and Wyndham volunteers spending a day at Camp to ‘give back’ and brighten the lives of children with serious illnesses.”
The day began with the wrestling stars greeting campers at breakfast and leading them in morning aerobics. Campers then engaged in a “meet and greet” which included photographs, autographs and receiving various gifts from both Global Force Wrestling and Wyndham. Following the “meet and greet,” campers were able to watch exclusive exhibition wrestling matches featuring a six-sided ring and inspiring speeches.
“The athletes from Global Force Wrestling were great to work with and being able to get in the ring and represent Camp Boggy Creek was an honor,” added Darren Dannelly, chief operating officer, Camp Boggy Creek. “Lifetime memories were created because of the hard work of Global Force Wrestling and Wyndham Vacation Ownership. The campers were thrilled when the camp was honored with the championship belt!”
Since 2012, Ryan Jevec, legal document specialist for WVO and associate producer at Global Force Wrestling, has organized this memorable event for more than 150 campers in attendance. “I am privileged each year to be able to collaborate with my friends at Global Force Wrestling and Wyndham Vacation Ownership to create a fun and exciting day for truly amazing children at Camp Boggy Creek. The strength and courage of these special kids is a true inspiration to us all,” said Jevec. “It is our sincere honor and pleasure to be able to visit the camp every year and bring smiles to these brave children.”
