The Trades Publishing Company, producers of B2B multi-channel media including Resort Trades, ResortTrades.com, and Resort Trades Weekly – an award-winning B2B eNewsletter distributed to resort and vacation industry executives – is delighted to announce the addition of Cathy Backus to their editorial staff. A highly credentialed travel and tourism industry professional, Backus is Founder and Chairwoman of Send Me On Vacation (SMOV), a 501(C)(3) charity, which brings together travel industry professionals to contribute resort accommodations, airlines, cruises, entertainment, and dollars to change the lives of breast cancer survivors “one vacation at a time.”
“For years, Resort Trades has gladly supported SMOV, as well as Christel House, with monthly, donated advertising space for the purpose of soliciting support for these fine organizations,” says Resort Trades Publisher Sharon Scott Wilson. “We are delighted to be able to have Cathy join our editorial team. Throughout the years, we have witnessed her abundant energy and talent as she writes compelling articles each month about the courage and fortitude of survivors as they overcome the challenges of picking up the pieces of their lives.”
“While philanthropy will be her principle ‘beat,’ she is being given free reign and is at liberty to cover any other topic of interest,” says Resort Trades Founder & CEO Tim Wilson. “We are simply delighted to have on-board such a gifted, energetic, and charismatic person.”
“When Sharon approached me during the 2019 ARDA World in Orlando, I accepted without hesitation,” says Backus. “Over the years I’ve greatly appreciated The Trades’ magnanimous contribution of free advertising space for my charity, SMOV, each and every single month. My husband Gene and I have been friends with the Wilsons for many years and I am looking forward to working with them and stepping into the editorial role. It won’t exactly be new to me since I’ve personally been writing the stories of our breast cancer survivors each month for our Resort Trades ad. I’ll continue to write about these inspirational women, of course, but I’m also hoping to expand my contribution to my column in The Trades with articles profiling the philanthropic initiatives and achievements of other organizations.”
Produced by The Trades Publishing Company, each of the three Resort Trades properties – Resort Trades magazine, ResortTrades.com, and Resort Trades Weekly –provides an enormous volume of informative, original content assisting professionals in the resort/vacation industry to operate more efficiently, raise revenues more effectively, and make better-informed buying decisions. The company’s Digital Media division is focused on creating valuable SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages) to elevate awareness of our advertisers through ResortTrades.com, the eNewsletter Resort Trades Weekly, and use of social media.
The Trades welcomes editorial submissions and “Best Place to Work” suggestions on the part of our readers, which may be sent to Sharon@TheTrades.com. Topic suggestions of a philanthropical focus may be sent to Cathy@TheTrades.com.
