Breckenridge Grand Vacations Supports Local Nonprofit Organizations with 500K+ Awarded this Spring, and Fall Grant Applications Are Now Open Until October 1, 2021

Summit County and Park County nonprofit organizations have been awarded a total of $519,895 with cash and in-kind donations already this year through Breckenridge Grand Vacations’ (BGV) Grants Program. During this year’s spring cycle, a total of $240,860 was awarded to 29 local organizations in the education, health and human service, art and culture, environment, sports and recreation, and other sectors.

BGV awards grants to local organizations during two annual cycles: one in the spring and another in the fall. During this year’s spring cycle, $24,000 was granted to four organizations in the Education field; a total of $127,000 was given to eleven organizations in the Human Service sector; four Art and Culture organizations received $21,000; $31,800 was awarded to four Sports and Recreation groups and one in-kind donation was awarded; while five organizations in the Environment sector were granted $32,060 and one organization in the Other category received a grant totaling $5,000. Funds were awarded from the BGV Donor Advised Fund, the BGV Endowment Fund, The Rob Millisor Heart Health Fund as well as directly from Breckenridge Grand Vacations.

Ashley Hughes, Marketing and Development Director of Breck Film Festival, shared that Breckenridge Grand Vacations (BGV) is a longtime supporter of Breck Film. Through the grants program, BGV helps fund general operations in relation to the festival such as marketing and tech support. BGV’s financial support in 2021 was particularly beneficial as Breck Film became the official operator of The Eclipse Theater. A portion of this year’s BGV grant financed important start-up costs for Breck Film’s latest venture like a new Point of Sales system, a fresh coat of paint, and new furniture for the theater lobby. Breck Film is successful because of the local support it receives from organizations like BGV.

The support that Breckenridge Grand Vacations has given to Summit Rugby over the years has been instrumental to the program’s success. However, the BGV Gives spring grant this year was a “godsend” according to Russell Whitt. “After the very challenging 2020 fundraising season, we were concerned with how robust of a program we could offer to our athletes in 2021. The BGV Gives grant allowed us to implement our full program and we have over 60 young female athletes participating this fall.  Thanks to you!” – Russell Whitt

“The generous grant provided by BGV Gives will have an immediate impact on our organization. Friends of the Lower Blue River boldy created a Climate Change Resiliency Initiative that requires capital to fulfill our goals, and this materially allows us to proceed with collaborative resources. Our work in this area will allow us to work with local and regional partners to help achieve the goals of this plan to benefit our community consistent with the State’s and County’s Climate Action Plan. Thank you for supporting the ecological health of our community.” – Tom Koehler

Local nonprofits have until Thursday, October 1 before midnight to submit their applications to Breckenridge Grand Vacations’ (BGV) Fall Grants Program. The program was created to support organizations in Summit and Park Counties through fundraising, sponsorships, grants, volunteering, and in-kind donations, with a focus on areas including health, human services, education, art and culture, environment, sports, and recreation.

BGV Gives recommends applicants review the program’s funding priorities prior to applying. Among many requirements of the grant, nonprofits must demonstrate the grant request will offer a measurable benefit to the community. This is especially important and significant now during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Applications must be submitted in PDF format by October 1, 2020, via email to BGV Gives Program Manager, Deb Edwards at [email protected]. For inquiries regarding grant eligibility and for the current application, please visit BGVGives.org.
