Palace Resorts Announces Executive Weddings Pastry Chef, Marelis Teran & Launches New Bridal Dessert Collections

Palace Resorts – the company that sets the standard in five-star, all-inclusive resort accommodations – proudly announces Marelis Teran as executive weddings pastry chef and the official wedding cakes designer, overseeing the creation and execution of the brand’s wedding cake and dessert creations. Under the coaching of renowned pastry chef Antonio Bachour, Teran has honed her expertise in creating extraordinary wedding cakes and desserts, adding to the signature amenities of destination weddings that take place at Palace Resorts. In addition to her formidable experience, including Chef of the Culinary Arts at renowned Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts and stints at some of the most exclusive pastry kitchens in the world, Marelis brings an unmatched wedding cake experience from premier all-inclusive resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean.

In an industry that is constantly evolving, staying ahead of the latest trends is crucial; Marelis is excited to roll out the brand’s newest offerings. Beginning this spring, couples can choose from an array of extravagant multiple tier cakes, distinctive cake pops, and even a customized donut wall. With so many unique options, there is truly no limit to a couple’s dream wedding cake for their destination wedding.

In fact, just recently the team crafted a fifteen thousand dollar Swarovski encrusted, 9-tier wedding cake for 850 people. This creation took a total of 21 days to complete, working on each of the elements for 13 hours per day. The cake, comprised of over 1,500 handmade, sugar flowers and  10,000 handmade, sugar flower petals. Elements included a variety of roses, peonies, anemones, and hydrangeas. The carefully placed and painted elements sparkled and twinkled from every angle from the reflection of the Swarovski crystals that surrounded the design of each layer of the cake. The concept of this beauty was that the flowers were the focal point of the design and that the view from every angle seemed as though it were the front. The rich mixture of a vanilla flavored cake with the topping of vanilla ganache complimented the sugar elements with both texture and taste.

A brand always ahead of the latest trends, Palace Resorts recognizes that wedding cakes have become almost, if not, equally as important as the wedding dress. Current trends combine modern styles with classic elements and bold colors, including the use of the color black, adding elegance and distinction to any event. Marelis prides herself in special touches, which can be found in the tiniest of details, like handmade, edible sugar flowers. Couples can be sure that Teran will bring their wedding cake dreams to life, with a personalized cake tailored to their styles and needs.

“Palace Resorts is consistently searching for innovative ways to take our brand to the next level,” said Jabib Chapur, Vice President of Food & Beverage for Palace Resorts. “In this case, bringing Marelis on board was a natural move.  As a company, we know how important it is to meet the increasing demands and requests of today’s couple. We are confident that Marelis will bring her expertise, talent & creative approach to our already leading weddings offerings.”

Teran has been passionate about two things in life: visual arts along with cooking. Early on she was motivated to create cakes throughout monumental moments in her life, from her son’s birth to family birthday celebrations. It was then she realized that her passion could turn into her business. Marelis became a chef in the culinary arts at Le Cordon Bleu in Florida, but pastries were her calling. She worked at the iconic, Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, followed by the Grand Beach Palace in St. Thomas where she met her mentor, world-renowned pastry chef, Antonio Bachour. Under his wing, Teran made the prestigious St. Regis Bal Harbour her next move, where she served as executive pastry chef for the esteemed resort. Today, she calls Cancun home, leading a culinary team at Palace Resorts.

“I am beyond excited to join the Palace Resorts weddings team,” said Marelis Teran, executive weddings pastry chef, for Palace Resorts. “It became evident to me that the brand knows no limits when it comes to offering their guests unmatched experiences. My philosophy is the same; whatever a couple craves, no matter how intangible it seems, can be made into something palpable and incredible. So much so, that their eyes will fill with tears of joy the moment they see their cake become a reality.”
